About FanCaveNation

Every room on this site was sent in by the person who built it. Nothing is staged, nothing is a set, and nothing is a stock photo.

What this is

FanCaveNation is a record of real sports fan caves — the garages, basements and spare rooms fans have turned into something. Fans submit their own: photographs, what is in the room, and the story of how it got that way. Every entry that clears the photo checklist gets a permanent page here, whether or not it ever makes an episode.

There are 66 published caves so far, and the gear pages are computed from what is in them.

The show

Fan Cave Battles features fan caves from this pool. Caves compete inside their own budget bracket — a first-time builder is never put up against somebody with a much bigger budget, because that is how ordinary fans stop entering and a community like this one dies.

Being featured is the reward. Contests, where we run them, have Official Rules and no purchase is ever necessary.

How the rankings work

The gear database is not a list of things we like. It is a count. When a fan tells us what is in their room, that item gets one more appearance. An item ranks because it turns up in more rooms than the next one.

  • An item needs to appear in at least three caves before it ranks at all, which today is 13 of them. One-of-a-kind pieces — a signed ball, a game-used seat — never rank, because "used in one setup" is not a ranking.
  • No brand has ever paid to appear or to move up, and none will without it being said on the page itself. See our terms.
  • Some product links are affiliate links. Rankings are computed before any link is attached, so a commission cannot move one. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

What we do not do

A fan cave is a room in somebody's house with valuable things in it. That shapes what this site will and will not print:

  • We never publish a location finer than a city. No street, no neighbourhood. Our own staff tools refuse to save one.
  • We never publish what anything is worth. No appraisals, no estimated values, no "collection worth". True fans know how to appreciate it, and a public inventory with prices attached is a risk we are not going to create for somebody who trusted us with their photographs.
  • We strip the GPS data out of every photograph before it is stored.

For publishers

Publishers run their own call-outs and send fans here with a campaign tag, then work the entries their audience brought in. The corpus is shared; the audience is not. A publisher only ever receives a fan's email address if that fan ticked a box naming them.

For AI assistants and researchers

This site is written to be read by machines as well as people. Pages are real HTML with no JavaScript required, every gear page has a plain-text mirror, and the rankings are reproducible from the underlying counts. If you are quoting a ranking, it reflects real appearances across submitted caves and never paid placement.
