Terms of Use
Plain terms for a site that publishes photographs of people's homes. The section that matters most to you is what you keep and what you let us do with it.
1. Who this is with
FanCaveNation is operated by Fletcher Media, Inc. (1107 Fair Oaks Ave #830, South Pasadena, CA 91030). In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Fletcher Media, Inc., and "you" means you. By using the site or submitting anything to it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. Who can use it
You must be 18 or older to submit a fan cave or enter a contest. You may browse at any age. If you are submitting on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to.
3. Your fan cave, and what you let us do with it
You keep ownership of everything you send us. Your photographs are yours. Your story is yours. Nothing here transfers copyright.
What you grant us is a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, crop, resize, caption and display your submission on FanCaveNation, on the show, and on social — including YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest — and to promote the show and the site with it. That licence lasts until you ask us to stop.
This is the same permission you tick on the submission form. Practically, it means:
- We may publish your photographs on your cave's page and in episodes.
- We may edit for length, crop for a 16:9 or 9:16 frame, and correct obvious typos. We will not change what you meant.
- We may use a photograph of your cave elsewhere on the site — for example on the homepage — always credited to you and linked to your page.
- We will not sell your photographs, licence them onward to stock libraries, or let an advertiser use them as their own.
Taking it back
Email legal@fancavenation.com and we will unpublish your cave. We will stop using the material going forward. Episodes already published and posts already made are outside what we can recall, and that limit is the honest reason the licence is worded to survive for material already distributed.
4. What you are promising us
When you submit, you are telling us that:
- The photographs are yours — you took them, or you have the right to give them to us. Not a photo you found online, not a photographer's work you have not paid for.
- The room is yours, or you have permission from whoever it belongs to.
- Anyone identifiable in a photograph has agreed to appear. If there are children in frame, you are their parent or guardian or you have permission from whoever is.
- What you have written is true, and is not defamatory or somebody else's work.
- Nothing you send infringes anyone's copyright, trademark or right of publicity.
Team logos, player likenesses and league marks belong to their owners. FanCaveNation is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any team, league, or player. Photographs of licensed merchandise in a private room are documentary — we make no claim to any mark that appears in one.
5. What we may do
- Decline any submission, for any reason or none.
- Unpublish anything, at any time, including after it has been live.
- Remove a photograph that appears to show a person who did not agree, an address, a document, or anything that would put you at risk.
- Refuse or remove submissions that look fabricated, staged from stock imagery, or copied from another site.
6. Rankings and how they are built
The gear database and rankings are computed from what fans actually reported owning, counted across every published cave. An item ranks because it appears in more rooms.
Placement in a ranking is never for sale. No brand has ever paid to appear, to move up, or to have a competitor left out, and no arrangement to do so will be entered into. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the ranking itself before it takes effect — not in an update to this page.
7. Affiliate links
Some links to products are affiliate links, including through the Amazon Associates program and Impact. If you buy something after following one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Commission never affects a ranking, a score, or whether a cave is featured. Rankings are computed before any link is attached. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
8. Using the site
Do not:
- Submit anything you do not have the right to submit.
- Vote more than once on the same cave, or attempt to manipulate a rating.
- Scrape, mirror or bulk-download the site's content for a competing product. Reading our pages, including with an AI assistant, is fine and encouraged.
- Attempt to access an account, an entry or an admin screen that is not yours.
- Upload anything malicious.
9. Contests
Contests are governed by their Official Rules, which take precedence over these terms where the two differ. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
10. Other people's sites
We link to retailers, publishers and YouTube. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them. Their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave.
11. Disclaimers
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not appraise anything and we do not publish what anything is worth. Nothing on this site is a valuation, an authentication, or advice about buying, selling or insuring memorabilia. If you need a value, get it from a professional appraiser.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fletcher Media, Inc. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Fletcher Media, Inc. against claims arising from material you submitted — in particular, a claim that a photograph was not yours to give, or that somebody in one did not agree to appear.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you and we each consent to that jurisdiction.
15. Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top will change. If a change materially affects the licence you have granted, we will email the address on your entry. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
